Sher Bagh, evokes nostalgic sensibilities of life on safari during the heydays of an era celebrated for its art de vivre, living elegantly under canvas, whilst on safari. With crackling campfires under starlit skies, sumptuous Anglo-Indian repasts using homegrown organic produce, coupled with old-world service, the camp epitomises life on safari as it ought to be lived.
Ranthambhore is the world’s finest place to observe tigers in the wild, and SUJÁN Sher Bagh is the ideal base from which to explore this billion-year-old forest, with the mighty citadel that lends its name to the reserve rising majestically at the heart of it. With ruins of palaces, cenotaphs and follies dotted around the jungle, now inhabited by its wild denizens, with the tiger at the apex, it is a spectacular wildlife haven
Our 12 tented suites, kitted out with custom-made campaign furniture and accoutrements, include two resplendent suites, each a celebration of elegance.
Inspired by the adventurous charm of old-world safari camps in India, our Jungle Tents embody the classic style of the Central-Indian wilderness of yore. Each double suite has a brand-new en suite bathroom featuring a brass bathtub and open stone shower. Glass and canvas walls open onto your private verandah overlooking wild jungle grasses and the surrounding canopy.
Named after the famous matriarch of Ranthambhore, the late Machhli, a tigress whose range included Sher Bagh, this intimate suite is sheltered by a grove of trees planted by our family over the decades and set within a private walled garden. It is perfect for any family looking for a bit of privacy, set back from the main guest tents. Here you will find two adjacent double tented jungle suites each with their own verandah and en suite bathrooms.
SUJÁN Sher Bagh is open all year round.

To make your experience more enjoyable, we have put together a small packing list that might help you plan your visit!
For your safari packing it is advised that you stick to a tonal, neutral colour palette (khaki, beige, light brown) and avoid dark colours as they absorb heat and bright colours as they can attract bugs and other wild animals.
Please note that the legs, shoulders and upper arms need to be covered at all times when visiting places of worship and our local communities.
The early mornings and evenings can be cold during the winter (November-February) so we recommend packing accordingly:
Back at camp, some guests prefer freshening up before meals and others come through directly from the drive. Whatever you feel comfortable wearing for meals and lounging around the lodge and pool area is up to you, of course.
What photographic equipment do I pack?
Photography is a passion at SUJÁN and we do our utmost to ensure that our guests capture exceptional images whilst on safari with us.
We suggest bringing your own camera and lens if you are a keen photographer. We do have some standard Nikon digital cameras to borrow at camp should you need. If you would like to hire a professional camera or lens for your safari, please let us know in advance by contacting our reservations team and we would be happy to try and arrange this for you.
If you are bringing any electronic equipment or camera gear, don’t forget batteries and a battery charger. The use of drones is strictly prohibited at all SUJÁN properties.
